Colorado Bars Closing Again in July Due to Surge of COVID-19

The State of Colorado is shutting down bars once again just two weeks after being allowed to reopen.

Governor Jared Polis made the announcement in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon (June 30), just days before the Fourth of July. Many other states across the U.S. have also closed bars down back again after a rise in COVID-19 tests.

Colorado has also seen a recent increase in COVID-19 cases and the Governor said he feared that more will come over the holiday weekend.

In the press conference, Polis said he does not want Colorado to become a center for people coming in from out of town to visit our bars. He also went on to say:

There is not a way that we have found for them [bars] to be a reasonably safe part of people’s lives during the month of July, in our state.

This new rule goes into effect in the next 48 hours, and encourages Coloradans to continue wearing their masks and safely social distance for the foreseeable future.
