City of Fort Collins Beginning Vine/Lemay Overpass Project This Week
This week, construction on the $24 million overpass project for Lemay will begin, so get ready for a few delays.
According to a press release from the City of Fort Collins, a new bridge will be built over the BNSF Railroad tracks in northeast Fort Collins carrying Lemay Avenue over using an overpass system. This means the elimination of a usually high-traffic point in one of the busiest parts of the city.
This "Lemay Avenue Realignment" has been deemed a top priority by the city due to the area's existing congestion issues, such as "limited options to expand through or turn capacity due to land use constraints", according to FCGov.com.
As always, construction like this will effect traffic, starting Wednesday. The press release states:
Beginning Wednesday, March 24, a section of Buckingham Street between Lemay Avenue/9th Street and 10th Street will be temporarily closed, as will a small connector between 10th Street and Duff Drive. This closure will continue for the course of the project and will allow for a construction staging area.
If you live in this area, you will still be able to access your home during this time. However, the City urges you to be aware of ever-changing construction traffic.
