According to Zillow "the average Colorado home value is $529,219, up 4.1% over the past year." That's about $200,000 over the national average. There are several homes in Fort Collins for $500,000 and under, some of them even have 4 or 5 bedrooms.

So how much money do you need to make in order to afford the average Colorado home? Indeed says "an income of $113,000 per year is the minimum salary needed to afford a $500K mortgage".

People considering relocating should consider whether lower taxes mean fewer transportation options and reduced government services."
