We continue to wake up to smoky skies in Northern Colorado as the Cameron Peak Fire grows closer to the Mullen Fire in Wyoming. As of this morning, October 7, the Cameron Peak Fire is at 128,149 acres.

According to the Incident Information System, the fire is officially 42% contained. Fire crews worked hard to maintain several structures within the fire with the help of "aviation resources" until they were ordered to leave for safety reasons. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Mullen Fire, just 30 miles to the north of the Cameron Peak blaze, is also steadily growing, officially at 161,151 acres. The smoke from that blaze has been instrumental in helping crews fight the Cameron Peak Fire, but many are concerned Mullen will merge with Cameron Peak. Together, the two blazes would be over 289,000 acres.

Air quality remains at an unhealthy level for Larimer County, with an AQI value of 160.
