The lure of easy money has a very strong appeal, Glen Frey once sang. You'd have to think that's how this man almost got away with it. But now, he's going away.

Nobody likes to get ripped off, especially by someone they know. That's what happened, though. But, as they say, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Even when it comes to family.

According to Fox 31/Denver 2, Anthony Bueno will be serving five years for cons involving his friends and family members, from which he took $1.3 million.

I don't think I could even come up with enough friends or family to garner $1,300 on a con, let alone $1.3 million.

One hustle involved him 'selling' surety bonds, which are like insurance on a credit line.  The other involved him getting money from his 'rubes' to 'help them start government contracting businesses.'

With his girlfriend's help, they laundered the money through some of her accounts and spent the money on cars and personal items.

Bueno will begin serving his 63-month sentence AFTER he finishes serving a separate 30-month sentence for bribing a federal official. He's also been ordered to pay back the $1.3 million in restitution.
