Move over Cabbage Patch Kid, Furby and Tickle Me Elmo, there is a new doll coming to the United States. A doll which allows little girls to simulate breastfeeding.

A Spanish toy company called Berjuan has created the “Breast Milk Baby,” which includes a person-sized halter top that has two flowers where a mother’s nipples would be, and makes a suckling sound when the doll’s mouth is pressed up against them. It’s been big seller in Europe, but is already causing controversy with their plans to distribute here in the states.

Critics claim that the doll over-sexualizes young girls, and also encourages teen pregnancy, while the toy company says breast-feeding is completely natural.

You can see the toy for yourself  in the clip below.  It's slightly NSFW, as the commercial starts off with a little bit of nipple.

I'm not sure what people are getting so upset over, I don't see how this doll encourages teen-pregnancy and more than another baby doll unless it's sending subliminal morse-code messages hidden in the suckling sounds that say, "Hey little girls, you need to get pregnant in 12 years." But it would strike me as odd to see/hear the doll suckling on a 6-year-old's chest.

Maybe it's the 'y' chromosome in me, but I just don't understand most of these kinds of dolls in general. I just don't understand the fascination with bodily functions and fluids in kids  playthings. Much like I don't understand most of the body-function dolls. (Like "Baby Alive" dolls that do everything from eat to drink to potty, to belch.)

I guess they teach little kids about their bodies, but I don't recall ever wishing I had a G.I. Joe with 'real suckling action' instead of a 'kung-fu grip.' Or a Transformer that required me to empty its oil-pan if it had too much energon.

Maybe I'd understand if I were a little girl. (Or if I had a little girl of my own.)

Now if you want some asinine entertainment check out some of the posts on the Breast Milk Baby Facebook page. There are some seriously heated arguments going on with the comments on their wall. So many many opinions, so few coherent thoughts.

What's your take? Is a breast feeding doll a good thing or a bad thing for a little girl?
