A man's body was recovered at Horsetooth Mountain Park on Thursday (Feb. 18).

According to an official press release from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, a Larimer County Natural Resources ranger noticed an unoccupied vehicle parked at Horsetooth Mountain Park on Sunday (Feb. 14); because the vehicle was still there on Wednesday (Feb. 17), a ranger sought to identify the owner of the vehicle and contacted his family.

Once his family members were contacted, they confirmed they had not seen or heard from the 30-year-old Fort Collins man in several days.

LCSO Emergency Services, Larimer County Search and Rescue and LCSO investigators responded to search for the man. Due to extreme winter weather conditions, the search was temporarily suspended Wednesday night.

The search resumed at 9 a.m. on Thursday (Feb. 18) with the assistance of search and rescue dogs and a drone.

A body believed to be the missing 30-year-old man was found around midday on the west side of Horsetooth Rock.

According to the press release, there is no evidence to suggest foul play at this time.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the man was well as cause and manner of death at a later date.
