AFC Playoffs: Broncos Host Steelers Today
The Denver Broncos (8-8) make their first playoff appearance since 2005 when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4) this afternoon in the AFC Wildcard game (2:30pm on CBS) at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Broncos Lose, But Reach Playoffs For First Time Since 2005
The Denver Broncos (8-8) lost 7-3 at Mile High this afternoon to Kyle Orton and the visiting Kansas City Chiefs (7-9). However, the Oakland Raiders (8-8) lost 38-26 to the San Diego Chargers (8-8), crowning the Broncos as the AFC West Champions, ensuring Denver their first playoff appearance since 2005.

New England Ends Broncos’ Win Streak 41-23
The magic ran out for the Denver Broncos (8-6) this afternoon at Mile High, as New England (11-3) was too much for Tebow and company, winning 41-23. Denver dominated the first quarter, but it was all Patriots after that. The Raiders (7-7) also lost today, leaving the Broncos on top of the AFC West.
Lady Gaga Top-Earning Female Musician In 2011
Lady Gaga made more than twice as much money as here closest competitor on the list 0f 2011's top-earning female musicians. Driven by revenue from her concert tour, which reportedly brings in $1.3 million in gross ticket sales per night, she earned a reported $90 million this year. Taylor Swift was second on the list, bringing in $45 million. Katy Perry was third at $44 million.
War Ends: Last U.S. Troops Leave Iraq
After nine years of a deadly and controversial war, the final U.S. troops have crossed the border into Kuwait early this morning, leaving Iraq behind. America had 239,000 men and women in uniform stationed in more than 500 bases sprinkled throughout Iraq at the peak of the war. Another 135,000 contractors were working in Iraq.
CSU Names McElwain As New Head Football Coach
Colorado State University has named Jim McElwain as the 20th head coach to lead the Rams' football program. McElwain was signed to a 5-year, $1.3 million contract. The 49 year-old coach most recenly served as the offensive coordinator at Alabama for the last four years. McElwain will remain on Alabama's staff through the national championship game on January 9th.
Broncos Stun Bears 13-10 At Mile High
The Denver Broncos' magic continues after coming back to defeat the Chicago Bears 13-10 this afternoon at Mile High. Broncos kicker Matt Prater drilled a 59-yard field goal with :03 left in the game to tie things up 10-10, then hit a 51-yarder in overtime to give Denver its sixth win in a row, and seventh win in the last eight games.
CSU Fires Head Football Coach Steve Fairchild
Colorado State University has fired head football coach Steve Fairchild. The move comes in the same week that CSU terminated Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk, and announced Jack Graham as his replacement. The moves come at the end of a 3-9 football season. The search for a new head coach is underway.
Broncos Win In Minnesota 35-32, Tied For First
The Denver Broncos (7-5) won their fifth straight game, and sixth out of their last seven in Minnesota this afternoon by beating the Vikings 35-32 on a last second Matt Prater field goal. Oakland lost today at Miami 34-14, leaving the Broncos and Raiders tied on top of the AFC West. Denver hosts Chicago next Sunday afternoon at Mile High.
Wyoming Wins Border War Over CSU 22-19
The Colorado State Rams (1-6, 3-9) lost their 8th straight game this afternoon, falling to the Wyoming Cowboys (5-2, 8-4) 22-19 in Fort Collins. The game known as the 'Border War' was the last of the season for CSU, and the first under new Athletic Director Jack Graham, after Paul Kowalczyk was fired earlier in the week.
