Though 'Pacific Rim' only made a little over a hundred million dollars domestically, the film had not only passionate fans, but a much larger audience internationally, which helped bring the $200 million project into a place where today director Guillermo del Toro announced that 'Pacific Rim 2' will hit theaters April 7, 2017.

Yesterday word broke that Shane Black, who starred in the franchise's first entry, would be directing a reboot of 'Predator.' But when reached for comment, Black clarified that he would not reboot, but is plotting an "inventive sequel." Could Arnold Schwarzenegger return?

Sylvester Stallone has had two great franchise characters, Rocky Balboa and John Rambo, and was able to resurrect both over the last decade successfully. But though Balboa's gloves are hung up (even if Stallone recently paid homage to that character), it looks like we're going to get a 'Rambo 5' that promises to be one of the most thoughtful of the series' sequels.

Considering the global success of 2011's 'Bridesmaids' (the film made nearly $300 Million worldwide), it's surprising that Kristen Wiig hasn't been courted to lead more comedies like her costar Melissa McCarthy. The 'Dumb and Dumber 2' trailer is here, and it shows that Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels haven't lost a step in returning to Harry and Lloyd's idiotic shoes. Sure, late in the game sequels aren't always great, but this suggests that the magic could very well be back.

'Sonic the Hedgehog,' the popular Sega video game protagonist, is going to be making the leap (perhaps with the help of the A button) to the big screen as Sony and Original Film are teaming with Sega to turn the character into a franchise mainstay, with films due out every year.
