Are There a Need For High School Reunions Anymore?

I have a high school reunion coming up and I keep getting mixed reactions from people when I tell them about it. A few, very small few, say go. Most say don't.

If television, movies and all these people taught me anything its that people hate their school reunions. All I hear is about how awkward and fake it is just talking to these people that didn't even talk to you in high school. I can see that. Some people say its good to go to see the people that you do like but I don't know.

Now and days, because of social media, you can stay in contact with the people that you did talk to and set up meetings whenever you want. To me, it seems like the way of the reunions have become a bit obsolete. There used to be a reason to have them, when the world wasn't so connected. So do we really need them anymore? Or maybe just stretch them out to 20 years or so? What do you think?
