911 Dispatcher Asleep On The Job [VIDEO] – Dumb Criminal Of The Day

Today’s Dumb Criminal involves a man who was supposed to be on the helping end of a 911-emergency call, but he was taking a little siesta instead!

This story comes to us from Maryland where, according to ABC News, a woman called 911 because her husband was having trouble breathing and what she heard when the call connected was a man snoring.

The dispatcher was out-cold, snoring on his end of the call. (You can hear clips from the call in the ABC News video below.) 37-seconds in another dispatcher jumped on the line to help the woman, but you can still hear Mr. Sleepy snoring through most of the call. He finally wakes up about 5-minutes in to the call and asks for the woman's address.

The good news, is the choking man was treated and is just fine after the 911 SNAFU. But the dispatcher has been suspended with pay during an investigation. He was an experienced firefighter in hour 17 of a 24-hour shift.

Now, I feel for the guy because working 24-shifts seems darn-near inhuman to me, but falling asleep as a 911 dispatcher seems like something that shouldn’t happen.
