9 Arrested in School Food Fight

What on Earth is going on? I can understand punishing kids for a food fight by making them clean up the mess and maybe some detention, but arresting them? Come on. 9 high school students were arrested in Georgia for planning a food fight.  The school officials had found out about the planned food fight and asked them not to, but the kids did it any way. I understand them being upset about that but I am not sure that it is cause for arrests to be made.

4 of the students were minors and released to their parents whit the other 5 were charged. Most were charged with disruption of public school and one girl was also charged with possession of marijuana. All were initially charged with inciting a riot but those were dropped.

I remember when some of my fellow students in middle school had a food fight at the Museum in Denver. They got detention and our class was kind of banned from going back there. No arrests.
