5 Things to Know About NewWestFest

If you enjoy live music but don't want to pay for it, then NewWestFest is for you.

Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest is a free music festival taking place on August 9th, 10th, and 11th in downtown Fort Collins. The event is family-friendly and a great place to discover new music while enjoying the tail-end of summer.

Here's what you need to know before attending:

1. The festival really is completely free.

There's no catch, I promise. The mission of Bohemian Nights is to share the gift of music by showcasing Colorado's new, up and coming, and established talent. Their ultimate goal is to "reveal Fort Collins as a music city." 

2. Each day has different hours. 

Make sure to look at this before you head over. Friday night (August 9) takes place from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday (August 10) is the longest day, lasting for 12 hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday (August 11) runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Regardless of your weekend schedule, there are plenty of opportunities to join in on the fun.

3. The line-up features a ton of local music. 

Fort Collins truly is a music city, with over 20 local artists attending the festival. Artists like Tank & the Bangas, Bonnie Raitt, and Andrew Bird will be headlining, with plenty of other acts performing all weekend.

4. There is an entire stage just for the kiddos. 

Don't worry about your little ones getting bored...there is a Kids' Music Adventure planned out just for them. Kids of all ages can play musical instruments, make their own instruments, listen to live music, and attend musical workshops.

Kids can participate from 12 to 4:45 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

5. There are six stages total. 

There is a map here in case you get confused, but luckily each stage is named after the street its on in Old Town. The Mountain Ave. Stage serves as the main stage.

Others include the Linden Street Stage, the Oak Street Stage, the Old Town Square Stage, and the Library Park Stage (which features the kids' stage).
