It’s every procrastinators dream. Due to an observed federal holiday, the tax deadline will be moved back 3 day to April 18th.

The District of Columbia will observe Emancipation Day on Friday, April 15th. According to law, holidays in Washington DC impact tax deadlines the same way a federal holidays would, so now taxpayers will have until midnight on Monday, April 18th, to file their 2010 returns.

Emancipation Day (in case you’re wondering) marks the day when President Abraham Lincoln signed into law a bill ending slavery in the District of Columbia in 1862. That’s eight months before he signed the emancipation proclamation.
