The school sent Liam Scholes home for his costume that included cable ties and eye mask because it was deemed "unacceptable."
Liam's mother also made sure to stress that her son had not read the Fifty Shades of Grey books. He was made aware of the character by the world wide media blitz on all aspects of the media. The character has become such a phenomenon in pop culture, that every student instantly knew who Liam was when he walked into the school.
