Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has received a lot of attention this week for his use of the word "Omaha" over and over in the Broncos win over the Chargers last week. Today he sort of explained what it meant, but I think it's time for a new word. So I came up with a list of words that would be much better to shout.

I realize that Peyton said "Omaha" a lot this last week, but it kind of drives me nuts that the word has gotten so much media attention this week. Mostly because true Bronco fans have been hearing him yell out the Nebraska city week after week for the last two years. But because everybody is paying more attention the team right now it has been blown up this week.

Today in a press conference though, Peyton sort of explained what "Omaha" means. The question was actually asked "Peyton, what is it you love about the city of Omaha?"

"Is that like a fan written-in questions," Manning joked. "I know a lot of people ask what Omaha means. Omaha is a run play, but it could be a pass play or a play-action pass depending on a couple things: the wind, which way we're going, quarter and the jerseys that we're wearing. So it varies, really, play to play. There's your answer to that one."

He later added using the word Omaha, "it wasn't my pick."

Since he doesn't have an emotional tie to the word, and it's kind of boring (no offence Nebraskans), I thought we could come up with some other words that would be much more fun to hear him shout during a game. Of course we have to keep it clean, so here are the words I'd like to hear Peyton shout...

1. Booby - A person regarded as stupid

2. Cockles - The core of one's being —usually used in the phrase warm the cockles of the heart

3. Masticate - To grind or crush (food) with or as if with the teeth

4. Uranus - The planet that is seventh in order from the sun

5. Angina - A heart disease that causes brief periods of intense chest pain

6. Seaman - A sailor in the U.S. or British Navy or the U.S. Coast Guard who is not an officer

7. Titular - Having an important or impressive title but not having the power or duties that usually go with it

8. Ramrod - A rod for ramming home the charge in a muzzle-loading firearm

9. Abreast - Beside one another with bodies in line <columns of men five abreast>

10. Caulk - To fill the cracks or holes in (something) with a substance that keeps out water

Admit it, you'd enjoy Bronco games so much more if Peyton would just try out a couple of these!
