World Trade Center Beam Arrives in Fort Collins [PICTURES/VIDEO]

A piece of history arrived in Fort Collins on Saturday. Poudre Fire Authority was granted the privilege of owning one of the last pieces of a World Trade Center beam thanks to the Fire Department of New York, the Terry Fund; and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey

The beam is a piece of steel over five foot long and over 3,000 pounds. It was part of a wall from one of the Twin Towers. It will reside at one of Poudre Fire Authority's fire stations to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 343 FDNY firefighters.

A transport team was assembled to bring the beam from New York to Fort Collins. It included four PFA members: Bryan Hanson, Len Lindholm, Jim Salisbury, and Jim
Durkin.  They were escorted across America by over 100 different emergency service agencies including, Patriot Guard Riders and American Veterans.

A ceremony to mark the arrival of the beam was held at Station #4 in Fort Collins on Saturday afternoon. My wife, Jenny, and I were there. She took these amazing pictures.
