It has been super smokey here in Fort Collins and the wind has played a big part in that. The wind has also made it difficult for the firefighters to combat the fire that has now burnt an estimated 55,000 acres. Gust have reached up to 50mph forcing the helicopters that have been helping fight the flames to the ground. Luckily, there has been no report of movement in the fire due to the wind, so that is kind of good news. More than 1,600 firefighters are working on the fire.

181 homes have been destroyed but the firefighters have been able to protect 529 homes! I hope that the weather begins to cooperate with them soon. Keep on fighting guys and gals!
