According to a recent partnership between The Huffington Post and Yelp, residents in Colorado have "Pool and Billiard" stores as the most popular genre of shopping in the state.

To collect info for the map, Yelp delved into its online catalogue of store listings and calculated the percentage of a given type of shopping business relative to the total number of business listings in that state. Then, it compared those percentages with each type of store's representation nationwide and produced a list of the top 10 most disproportionally common stores in each of the 50 states.

According to the study, these are the top five most popular categories of stores in the state of Colorado:

1.) Pool and Billiards: 619 percent higher than the national average

2.) Outdoor Gear: 464 percent higher than the national average

3.) Maternity Wear: 301 percent higher than the national average

4.) Bikes: 289 percent higher than the national average

5.) Brewing Supplies: 280 percent higher than the national average

What surprises me with this study is that brewing supplies isn't higher on the list. Or at least higher than maternity wear. We're considered the "Napa Valley of Beer"! Who holds the highest average for brewing supplies? The state of Washington.

One thing that jumps out at me in this research is the state of Alabama, which leads the way with the highest amount of flea markets above the national average. The number of flea markets in the state is 1,034 percent higher than the national average.
