Federal immigration authorities have released their first report concerning undocumented immigrants, and Weld County is one of four Colorado localities mentioned.

According to Denver 7, the report states that the areas mentioned are allegedly failing to comply with immigration detainers. The order is known as "Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States", which states that people living in the country illegally can be deported if they are suspected or charged of committing a crime.

Out of all the cases listed in the report throughout the country, there are only 11 that they cited in the state of Colorado:

  • Six in Boulder County
  • One in Denver
  • Three in Broomfield
  • One in Weld County

Denver 7 said that in the report it states that the Weld County Jail declined a detainer issued in December for someone who violated a court order. The jail declined that on February 3rd.

President Trump and his team have stated that cities and states throughout the country who are deemed to be noncompliant with the executive orders could have the possibility of having all of their federal funding stripped.

Weld county officials have said that they are still reviewing the report and looking into the incident that is in question.
