More than 1,000 kids have already been hit by an unidentified respiratory illness across 10 states and is likely to become a nationwide problem. Though not identified the rare respiratory virus is being called "Enterovirus 68" according to the U.S. Center of Disease Control and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Director of the CDC Mark Pallansch Stated: Similar cases to the ones in Colorado have been cropping up across the U.S. At least 10 states -- Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Iowa, Colorado, Ohio, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Georgia.

Doctors are saying that it is common at back to school time for illnesses to spread, however they still are not sure how this particular virus is being spread. It is known to start with typical cold symptoms like runny nose, sneezing and coughs... but it is the wheezing you have to look out for.

Dr. Raju Meyappan a Pediatric Critical Car Physician at the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children said he has seen multiple children end up in the pediatric intensive care unit after being infected with the virus and that children under the are of 5 or those with asthma appear to be the most at risk.
