Colorado-based Ultimate Electronics filed for bankruptcy less than one month ago and now they have announced that they will be closing all 46 of their stores.  This will put at least 40 Ft. Collins employees out of work.

"Thornton-based Ultimate Electronics plans to liquidate its stores, including nine in Colorado" "Heath Kahler, operations manager at the Fort Collins store, said liquidation of merchandise will begin by Wednesday and the store will close when it runs out of product."

This make me sad, Ultimate Electronics had become one of my favorite places to get my fix of electronics.  The store sells just about everything from movies, to video games, to TVs, computers, cameras and pool tables.  Once the store closes down, there will be yet another empty storefront in Ft. Collins, and another 40 people out of work.

The Coloradoan states that this is the first anchor store at Front Range Village to fail, and the manager of the shopping center was unaware of the closing until they contacted her.

The only plus I can see is that maybe I can score a couple of great deals in liquidated merchandise, but that's no consolation for any of the 1500+ Ultimate Electronics employees who will soon be out of work.

As of right now I do not see any mention of the closing on the Ultimate Electronics website.
