When Memorial Day weekend went by without Trail Ridge Road opening as usual, it was a sure sign that we weren’t ever going to have summer in 2015. But then the crews worked diligently, and…. Let’s go!

They began working in mid-April to clear the snow and get Trail Ridge Road open in time for Memorial Day. Most years that happens, this year it didn’t. With all the crummy weather we’ve been having, where were we headed, anyhow? Rocky Mountain National Park announced Friday afternoon that the crews had finished the work and traffic is now free to roam along the highest continuous paved highway in the United States as it reaches an elevation of 12,183 feet!
