Today was the first annual Bike to School Day and 20 Fort Collins schools and thousands of students took part in the national event. The event was created to encourage kids to ride their bikes in May and it was created after the success of Walk to School day that happens in October. 700 other events were planned across the nation in honor of Bike to school Day.

"We knew there was support for a spring bike to school day, as many local bike-focused events have been held in the past," said Lauren Marchetti, director of the National Center for Safe Routes to School. "But the turnout for this first-time event is spectacular! We couldn't be more pleased with how many communities and families are coming together to promote biking to school on this one day."

If you missed out on today or you are not a student have no fear, next Friday is national Bike to Work Day and on June, 27th. So, dust of your bike, stretch and get to work refreshed! Or, just bike to work just because :)
