Tim Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets. NFL insider Adam Schefter broke the news this morning via Twitter. Tebow became expendable when the Broncos signed 4-time MVP Peyton Manning to a 5-year $96 million contract yesterday.

ESPN is reporting that the Broncos will get a 4th round pick from the Jets in exchange for Tebow, who is a former 1st round pick. There were rumors that Jacksonville was the front-runner to get Tebow, but the Jets jumped at the chance to get the Heisman Trophy Winner.

Last season Tim Tebow became a national sensation.  For a few weeks he became the most popular athlete on the planet. His jersey became the best selling jersey in the NFL.  They even had a parody of him on Saturday Night Live. That is how you know you are part of pop culture.

Tebow replaced  Kyle Orton last season after the Broncos started 1-4 and led the team to an 8-8 record and the AFC West title. He did it with a run of seemingly miraculous finishes.  Tebow also won his first playoff game, beating the Pittsburgh Steelers with an 80-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas on the first play of overtime.  Thanks for the memories Mr. Tebow.
