It's a moment all young baseball fans fantasize about: whether it's in the backyard by yourself with a bat or on the field with friends, the game is on the line and you are at the plate...two-outs, bases loaded, two-strikes, the fans are on their feet with all hopes and prayers resting on your shoulders. And then........the dramatic swing that sends the ball over the center field wall. The crowd goes CRAZY!

This scenario was no doubt played out on a field in Longmont, Colorado a few years ago when a young David Bote was playing out the dream sequence. It's likely he was imagining himself in a Rockies uniform at that time as he grew up watching Dante Bichette, Andres Galarraga, and the other hero's in purple.

Bote was born April 7, 1993 in Longmont, Colorado and drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 18th round in 2012. He got "the call" at around midnight one night that told him he was needed at the major league level. As luck would have it, Bote was about to have a dream come true as his debut in the major leagues would be in Coors field, except he'd be in a visitors uniform. Friends and family showed up to see him get a double in his first big league at-bat.

The dramatic shot that flew into the night in Wrigley Field Sunday night will never be forgotten by David, his wife Rachel, his family and friends, and the folks in Longmont. All those years playing on the fields in Longmont, honing his skills and rehearsing the dramatic grand slam home runs to win the games has certainly paid off. Dreams have come true for Bote. Maybe another dream come true could happen down the road should he get the opportunity to switch out the Cub blue for Rockies purple.
