Movie Review

Every year around Halloween, you can expect scary movies. You can also expect another 'Paranormal Activity'. I have not been overly impressed with this series. All the movies are the same. The people have an obsession with filming everything. Most of the footage is of them sleeping and nothing really happens until the last five minutes. 4 is more of the same.

I decided to see 'Frankenweenie' on opening weekend because I am a Time Burton fan and I have been excited about this flick ever since I saw the short that he did a while ago. This week I even have a guest reviewer that tagged along to the Metrolux 14 theaters with me.

I am a huge fan of animations and this time of the year (Halloween). So, of course I was going to go see this new movie about monsters living in a hotel! I headed to Metrolux 14 in Loveland to check it out.

First, sorry for the cliche title but it honestly works for the movie. Second, holy cow this movie is intense! The raw emotion and the way they made you connect with the characters made this movie amazing.

When I first saw the trailer for this, I was a little creeped out. It takes a lot for me to be creeped out at horror movies because most of the time they aren't scary. This film did a good job of keeping the creepy factor going.

I love movies that are animated like this! One of my all time favorite movies is 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and this is along those lines of being creative and creepy at the same time. This movie follows Norman, a child who can see the dead and talk to them, and how he must save the town from the witches curse.

This weekend I decided to play a little Netflix roulette where I cycle through my instant cue and stop randomly and the movie I landed on was this weird little gem, 'Night Train.' I thought it sounded good and it starred Danny Glover, Steve Zahn and Leelee Sobieski, so my hopes were lifted right there. But, this was a strange let down.

This weekend nothing really came out in theaters so I browsed the movies I haven't seen in a long time and I came across this little gem. I remember when this movie first came out I was excited to see it because I grew up on westerns, but alas, I was only in 2nd grade so  I was not allowed. So when I finally got to watch it, I can see why, it is a gritty, western.

Over the weekend I say the "historically accurate documentary" about one of the greatest presidents that this country has seen and I wish all documentaries were like this. In all seriousness, it was a quite enjoyable movie but I bet there are going to be kids some time down the line that think that this is true story.

With summer upon us and the weekends getting busy I may not always have time to head to the theater to see a movie to review, but have no fear that is what Netflix, Blockbuster and Redbox are for. For my movie to review I turned to my extensive queue on Netflix to find a flick that maybe a lot of people haven't heard of and I found 'Wild Target' starring Emily Blunt, Bill Nighy and Rupert Grint. I think that this is literally the strangest movie I have ever seen. The premise follows a tire that rolls around and learns that it has telekinetic powers and starts killing things. Weird right? Well it gets even stranger because while that is going one there is a group of people that are watching this as a "movie" through binoculars.  Did I mention this tire is obsessed with a girl? Re
