I have quickly become a Mom of 3. I have 3 month old twin boys and a 3 year old daughter. The twins, I tell ya, WOW! It never crossed my mind what exactly having twins meant. Two of everything, the good, the bad and the extremely tired.

The ultrasound is an amazing mark of technology and a huge medical advance from the x-ray.  The kind of ultrasound I'm talking about is technically ultrasonography, the kind used to see fetuses in the womb. Basically sound waves are presenting an image, that's how I interpret the words I don't understand anyways.  The first time you see your baby on that ultrasound screen is amazing.  Print picture and frame! The 4th, 6th and 10th time it loses it's thrill a little.

A music legend has passed. Levon Helm, singer and drummer of The Band passed away yesterday at the age of 71 after a battle with throat cancer.  As with most music popular in the 60's and 70's my Dad encouraged me to listen when I was young, so Levon's voice has always been familiar. I've included my favorite song from Levon Helm as well as an interview he did about drumming. He was a very humble, normal, talented man.  Thank you Levon Helm for your contributions to music!

I'm a working Mom and I have tried and struggled through every childcare scenario out there. It was horribly hard to leave my new baby with anyone besides family. But at some point you branch out to friends, then perhaps to a paid stranger. The benefit of the paid stranger is that you are paying them and you don't have any strings attached.  They WORK for you. Once they're kids and not babies it's easier, as they mostly just need to be entertained. So where do you find babysitters in Fort Collins?  How much do you pay them?

My husband and I are expecting identical twin boys sometime in May. Entering the world of twins is very different than expecting just one baby.  There is this whole mystical, intriguing thing about twins. People ask a lot of questions and are really fixated on the connection of these babies to be. My husband and I have the comical fears of this Dr. Katz skit.  Will we be able to tell them apart?

This past weekend was the FoCoMX 2012 with over 300 bands playing at various venues around Fort Collins.  On Saturday, we were sure to hit up Everyday Joe's for some of their kids shows.  Our almost 3 year old daughter is shy, but loves music.  Jason Downing, lead man of Musketeer Gripweed has a Blues School performance for kids that we didn't want to miss.

It's embarrassing to be out of breath from sitting down.  I haven't taken a deep  breath in weeks.  So add to that the feeling that if I walk too much my huge belly feels as though it may in fact bounce onto the ground and you get ridiculous discomfort. I'm 32 weeks pregnant with twins. Bigger than I was at 40 weeks with my daughters pregnancy. I rode my bike to work until 3 days before I gave birth to her, now I ride....the motorized cart at Target. See below.

I'm one of those people who cannot stand seeing someone throw trash on the ground. It's not about the environment.  It's about lazy humans with no respect. I grew up in the middle of nowhere with lots of clean fields and dirt roads, trash was obvious, so maybe I just have a super aware eye for it. But what's really bugging me lately is this new form of popular litter...the floss pick.

It's 9am on a beautiful Saturday morning and you stop at Wal-Mart with your almost 3 year old very observant daughter.  Help her get out of the minivan and she says "is that someones underwear?" You look over and sure enough some Whitey Tighties are just laying there in the parking lot next a cigarette butt. Priceless moments to think of something to tell your daughter.  I opted for "they must have fallen out of someones back pack or suitcase." Meanwhile my brain goes to some disgusting-parking-lot-rendezvous-scene reason behind the underwear in the parking lot.
