Denver Man Impersonates Fire Man During High Park Fire- Say “What!?”
I am sure you have probably already heard about this story, but I thought it deserved a "SAY WHAT!?" because that is exactly what I said when I read it. Michael Maher from Denver decided it would be a great idea to steal some government plates and put them on his vehicle and pretend like he was with the fire department and go into the area of the High Park Fire. Stealing government plates is bad enough but he also pretended to be a fireman. They found him a day later at a Laporte Bar with the stolen plates, a firearm and stolen property.
High Park Fire Update: June 18th, 9:30am
The High Park Fire has burned approximately 58,046 acres, and is about 45% contained. Shifting winds over the weekend caused more challenges for firefighters.
Winds Hindering Fighting High Park Fire
It has been super smokey here in Fort Collins and the wind has played a big part in that. The wind has also made it difficult for the firefighters to combat the fire that has now burnt an estimated 55,000 acres. Gust have reached up to 50mph forcing the helicopters that have been helping fight the flames to the ground. Luckily, there has been no report of movement in the fire due to the wind, so that is kind of good news. More than 1,600 firefighters are working on the fire.
