Hewlett Fire

One week and almost two days after it started, the Hewlett Fire was officially contained last night.

The Hewlett Fire burning northwest of Fort Collins had burned around 7,485 acres.  The blaze is now estimated to be around 87% contained.

The National Forest Service announced this morning that the Hewlett Fire burning in the Poudre Canyon is expanding. Just under 1000 acres yesterday, the fire has expanded to 5000 acreas, and is only 5% contained. Approximately 200 firefighters were working the fire yesterday. That number is expected to nearly double today.
