Halloween is supposed to be about harmless scares and fun, but the holiday took a truly frightening turn when Federal inspectors recently seized more than a thousand Chinese-made costumes for lead contamination.

I love Halloween, and I love dressing up in costume. But it seems to get harder and harder to come up with a great costume every year. (And then when you have a significant other and want to dress as a couple, things get even harder. And now I have to figure out how to work a baby into our costume get-ups.) So, here are a few ideas for you if you're looking for a good "couples" costume that I've done in the past.

There's one thing we know for sure about little kids-- they can make practically anything seem adorable. Scrunched-up, twisted sour faces? Check. A boppin' on a bed rendition of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'? You betcha! Although we're a little dumbfounded as to how this "everything is ridiculously adorable" thing actually happens, we can't help but be sucked into the cuteness every darn time. This is especially true when it comes to Halloween.

Halloween, parades, theme-parties, a trip to the grocery store...I'm always looking for an excuse to dress up.  Case in point,  I've had on 3 different costumes in the past 8 days for various Halloween-ish events. A Roman gladiator zombie for Zombie Fest, "Mad-Eye Moody" for a Harry Potter Party, and "Mayhem" for Halloween. Check the gallery and see some of my favorite costumes

The Fort Collins Zombie Fest ravaged Old Town Fort Collins this past Saturday night. Hundreds of costumed and non-costumed zombie-enthusiast took to the streets (and to the shops, bars, and restaurants) in Old Town. As many as 15,000 costumed bike riders filled the streets of Fort Collins on Saturday for a record-breaking 12th Annual Tour De Fat.  According to reports from the Coloradoan, this was the largest turnout ever for the event which has 13 stops across the country including Denver and Chicago. It's good to have "The Mothership" here in Fort Collins! Kama, Derek and myself were out and about
