The movie 'Strange Brew' was one of my favorite dumb-comedy movies as a teenager. It starred Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis as Bob and Doug McKenzie. Two not-so-bright Canadian beer drinkers who uncover a plot to take over the world while trying to fraud an evil beer maker. It's not a Christmas movie, FYI. But their characters did release a comedy album called 'The Great White North', that included

'Love Actually' was a great movie. I wasn't expecting to like it, but it ranks right up there as one of the best 'chick-flicks' guys can like. (Also on that list are movies like 'Serendipity', 'Stranger Than Fiction,' 'Titanic', 'What Women Want', 'Say Anything', 'When Harry Met Sally' and 'The Princess Bride'.) And it's a feel-good holiday movie. In it, a fictional, washed-up rock star named Bill

This one is, dare I say...a classic. The first time I heard Bob Rivers' 'Twelve Pains of Christmas' was when a class at my middle school did a lip-sync performance of the song at one of our end of the semester assemblies. I was rolling on the floor laughing, and to this day I still giggle every time I hear it. I think everyone can hear a little of their own dad in the guy trying to put up the ligh

At the risk of loosing any 'man-cards' I may have accumulated in my life, this songs makes me feel all sentimental...warm & fuzzy, if you will. I'm not sure why. It just has that hopeful, melancholy feel to it that just gets me.  Listening to it kind of makes me want to stare out the window to my snow-covered back yard and smile.

'How The Grinch Stole Christmas' by Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite Christmas stories. I loved the animated film from 1966, the Jim Carrey live-action film from 2000 was okay, and the most memorable song of 'You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch,' has become a holiday classic. Rachel Platten just released her own version of the song on an Exclusive NoiseTrade sampler. It's fun and spunky, I like it. Check

Okay, so this one isn't technically a Christmas song. But it seems Christmas-y and I absolutely love it.I mean how can you go wrong with a lyrics like, "You snooze, you lose. Well, I have snost and lost." If you can't place where you've heard his voice before, Mike Doughty was the man behind the band 'Soul Coughing', but has since  moved on to create a handful of well-done solo albums. R

'Carol of the Bells' is probably one of my favorite Christmas songs. I love the Trans-Siberian Orchestra version,  versions done by hand bell choirs, and I even love the California Raisins version. But this rendition by 'The Calling' is definitely one of the best...
