Afternoons with Beano
I’m a local guy. I grew up in Longmont, where I graduated from Longmont High School in 1999. My love of music and radio blossomed as I got my start working at the 100-watt powerhouse KCDC (A student radio station at the Career Development Center). I then moved to Ft. Collins at get a bachelor’s degree at Colorado State University and spent 3/4 of my waking hours working at KCSU (CSU’s student run radio station). I have been working for Townsquare Media for over 6 years in various positions and now call the afternoon show on 99.9 The Point my home.
I’m a little quirky, a little odd, and a self-proclaimed “geek” (what is being a ‘geek’ other than having passion about something?) I live in Windsor with my wonderful wife and our two corgis. I love being a part of this community and all that Northern Colorado has to offer.
I have a penchant for hot wings, scooters, and super heroes, but I’ll try just about anything to keep life exciting. (Except for seafood. Never liked it, never will.)

Let’s face it. We, as a society, love seeing people beat the living crap out of each other. Boxing, MMA fighting, hockey, football, rugby, even the bench-clearing brawls at baseball games make for popular TV. It doesn’t even matter if the beatings are real or fake (IE, Professional wrestling, Jackass and Jean- Claude Van Damme movies).
The Roman Empire had gladiator fights to the death in giant coliseums; we have par-per-view fight nights that bring in millions of dollars. But there is a female-dominated smash-mouth sport that is gaining lots of popularity... roller derby!

The future leaders of America have certainly shone brighter than they did last week in Amherst, Massachusetts. A furious fire chief had to have his men rescue three students from a 30-foot rooftop on their college campus.
They go stuck on the roof by climbing a taller building and jumping on to the roof of this one with no plan of how to get down.

I’m sure we’ve all wondered what it feels like to be shot. But only a moron would ask his friend to actually shoot him. And one step further down the intelligence scale is the guy’s friend who said, “Sure, I’ll shoot ya!”
Police in Virginia arrested a man and charged him with wreck less endangerment after he shot his friend in the leg, by request!

It’s yet another naked criminal today, this one from Bloomington, Indiana where Police were called around 7AM because of a naked man shouting, setting off fireworks and shooting a gun.
And the world’s best neighbor made matters worse for himself by pointing his gun at police when they arrived and ended up getting shot, twice.

According to KDVR, a Colorado lawmaker is introducing a bill that he says restores some 'common sense' to the land. This coming on the heels of the 2011 fiasco where Congress was planning to make a slice of pizza count as a serving of vegetables in school cafeterias.
I'm all for the idea behind the law, but I'm pretty depressed that someone would have to step in and make that law.
