Say “What!?”- Giant Rat Found in New York

It was actually found in a "Foot Locker" in the Bronx, but non-the less still extremely creepy.  This photo was apparently posted in the fall but it is now gathering internet fame.

Dr. Robert S. Voss, the Curator of Mammals at The American Museum of Natural History in New York said,

There’s no way it’s a common sewer rat, I’m 90 percent certain that it’s a Gambian pouched rat.”

He believes that the rat was someones pet at some point and either got free or was released. I sure hope so because if not the I guess the R.O.U.S (rodents of unusual size) from the movie, "Princess Bride" really do exist.

These types of rats used to be imported to the United States so they could be sold as pets. But, in the 2000s, the import of the rats was banned because of an outbreak of monkeypox.
