Trevor Story, the 23-year-old rookie shortstop for the Colorado Rockies, is certainly getting into the swing of the new season, making history on Wednesday as being the first player in baseball to hit a home run in each of his first three Major League games. The talented newcomer is also the first player in baseball history to hit a home run for each of his first four hits. In the three-game series on the road against the Diamondbacks, Story homered twice off Zach Greinke on Monday, once on Tuesday, and then launched a two-run blast off Corbin on Wednesday — what a story for making a grand debut! The Rockies took two of three against the D-Backs, hitting a team total of ten home runs.

After his homer on Tuesday, Story had already made it into the Rockies record books, as he and Todd Helton are the only players in club history to homer in their first two Big League games. With his home run on Wednesday, Story surpassed Joe Cunningham, who also hit three home runs in his first two career games when he debuted for the Cardinals back in 1954.

The Rockies drafted Story in 2011 as a supplemental first-round pick out of Irving High School, 45th overall. Since then he's been working on building muscle and endurance, by playing for Double-A and Triple-A teams. With Tulo being traded to Toronto last season and Reyes currently serving a suspension for an off-season charge, rookie Story earned the position as  starting shortstop...oh, and hitting six homers during Spring Training didn't hurt his chances much either.

The Rox play again this Friday, April 8, for their home opener against the San Diego Padres. As fans in Denver will be getting their first-ever introduction to Trevor Story, it will also be a new experience for him, having never even taken batting practice at Coors Field before. Catch coverage of the game starting at 2:10 p.m. on Root Sports.
