Robber Gets Arm Stuck in Door- Say “What!?”

Have you ever went to the vending machine and got down on a knee and put your arm in the slot to try and get yourself some free goodies and your arm feels like it almost gets stuck? That is essentially what this teen in Ireland did except, instead of a vending machine, it was some body's  home and his arm did get stuck... in the mail slot.If your asking yourself what a mail slot is, see the above picture. It used to be pretty common on doors, but now I can see why they aren't. Well, that and the adding of the communal mailbox in neighborhoods.

Anyway, back to the story. This young lad had the brilliant idea to stick his arm in the mail slot to try and reach up and unlock the door so he could easily walk in the house and steal a few things. Luckily, a passing patrolman saw the kid fumbling around and intervened. The fire department came and removed the mail slot from the door and left it on his arm, when it was later removed at the police dept.

On a random note, I don't know why but when I read the part about the passing patrolman, I got this image in my head of the Irish cop stereotype from 'Looney Tunes'. You know the one where he is walking down the street, twirling his baton and whistling.
