tornado damage near LacyThe news and video footage from the tornadoes that tore through Oklahoma today are just devastating. A lot of us have friends and family in the area and getting a hold of them after a disaster like can be very hard and can cause a lot of grief in not knowing someone is okay or not.

There is a website set up through the Red Cross designed to help people communicate and find out if people they care about are okay in disaster-stricken areas.

SAFE & WELL- The website allows people in affected areas to list themselves as "Safe and Well” and leave a short message for anyone looking for them. They can then be searched by others who can gain piece of mind.

Now, keep in mind just because someone hasn't registered with 'Safe & Now' doesn't mean they aren't safe, it just means they haven't registered.

The American Red Cross Safe and Well Website is a way for people affected by a disaster to enter information regarding their welfare so family and friends can check their status. Because people self-register, the Red Cross cannot verify the information and is not responsible for any inaccuracies.

My thoughts and well-wishes to everyone affected by these tornadoes. We had a brush with a massive tornado that ripped through Windsor, Colorado (just blocks from the radio station) five years ago. It was one of the most surreal and terrifying experiences of my life, yet I still feel like I can't even fathom what those on Oklahoma are going through right now.

Ugh, and this was just tweeted by 7NEWS Denver Channel around 5:50PM MST:

At least 10 dead in #Oklahoma#Tornado according to @ABC report. @KFOR says children still in rubble of school. http://ch7ne.ws/12pP7XD

Heartbreaking.
