Last night we wanted beer... But not just any beer, pumpkin beer! We opted to had over to Berthoud's City Star Brewing as it is one of our go to places and a convenient half way point between my place and our friend's place in Longmont. The is one brewery we have been to a handful of times and the beer is always good as is the atmosphere.  Tow pumpkin beers were available on tap. A pumpkin ale and a sour barrel aged pumpkin sour ale.

The Hellbilly, a sour harvest ale that is brewed with pumpkins, spices, allspice, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and vanilla is aged in rum barrels for 10 months. The ABV is 7% and available at the taproom and to go in a bomber. Anyone who knows me, know that I am a HUGE fan of barrel aged beers.... Sours not so much. They do something to the muscle in my jaw that simply leaves me feeling nothing short of uncomfortable. This was the case on this sour as well. I had to try a taster, I couldn't do a full glass however.

Country Pumpkin, City Star's offering of a non-sour pumpkin ale. A great beer if I do say so myself! This is a harvest ale that is brewed with pumpkins, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, nutmeg and the best part, it is ages on Madagascar vanilla beans. The IBUs are low with a rating of 21 and a 6.5% ABV. Certainly a great pumpkin beer that we will be back for soon! Hopefully the keg isn't kicked before we get back there!

Cheers!
