Get this, a study from Psychology Today magazine found that Wal-Mart is the most popular place to find “love at first site.” At least according to data from the “missed connection” categories on Craigslist.

I decided to do a little study of my own and looked through the last month worth of posts on Fort Collins Craigslist Missed Connections and found slightly different results. Where was the best place to find love in Northern Colorado?

There were about 200 ‘Missed Connections’ postings on Fort Collins Craigslist in the past month and I scrolled through all of them. I didn’t use any scientific method, but I got a good glimpse into the hearts of lonely Northern Coloradoans.

In our neck of the woods it appears King Soopers is the best place to look for love. It came up four times in the posts. Other notables included;  7-11, The Adult Book Ranch, Anytime Fitness, Old Town Fort Collins, Starbucks, and Taco Bell. (And Yes, Wal-Mart did receive one mention.)

Is it just me, or is “Love at first sight,” far from the first thing you think of when reading some of those business names? The other places that all got one mention in the last month worth of ‘missed connections’ were:

  •  24-Hour Fitness
  • AFNI
  • Aggie Theatre
  • Albertsons
  • Alley Cat
  • Avogadro’s Number
  • Berry Blendz
  • Best Buy
  • Big O Tires
  • Chipper’s Lanes
  • CSU Equine Center
  • Downtown Greeley
  • Front Range Community College
  • Great Clips
  • Greeley DMV
  • Hayes Market
  • Horsetooth
  • Island Grill
  • Lory Students Center Bookstore
  • Lyrics Cinema Café
  • Mackelmore Concert
  • Marco’s Pizza
  • Miramont Lifestyle Fitness
  • Panda Express
  • Petsmart
  • Plasma Donation Center
  • Ross
  • Safeway
  • Sam’s Club
  • Sprint Store
  • Sprouts
  • Taco Johns
  • Target
  • Teletech
  • The Rio
  • Tony’s Bar
  • Wal-Mart
  • Wendy’s
  • ZQuila

Seems like a very random smattering of locations where someone caught someone else's eye. But love has no bounds, I suppose.

The magazine's study looked at postings from 15 different states and also found that age played a big role in where people were looking for love.

The most common place for missed connections for 20-somethings was an ice cream store. At 30, it was a bar, and for people over 40, it was a strip club or adult bookstore.

So, psychology magazine thinks that the place most 40+ people are looking for love is at a strip club or an adult book store?! I think this might be why there are a lot of psychology majors still looking for work.
