"Orange is the New Black" is an original series available on Netflix. It's a prison "dramedy" from 'Weeds' creator Jenji Kohan. As with all series available for binge-watching, you get hooked quick. I've almost completed all 13 episodes of the first season. I started 5 days ago... It feels a little crazy to say, but really watching this series has me thinking about life inside prison. What it actually might take to get through a day without your normal escapes. A lot of critics have been turned off by the plethora of sex scenes, mostly lesbian, but I think it's a vital part of the story. Part of the desperation to feel connected while incarcerated. And for those of you already hooked like me, internet spoilers are saying season 2 will be out on April 25th, 2014. Let's hope.

Wikipedia sums up the series like this

The series revolves around Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a bisexual woman, engaged to a man, living in New York City, who is sentenced to 15 months in a women's federal prison for transporting a suitcase full of drug money to her former girlfriend who is an international drug smuggler. The offense occurred ten years prior to the start of the series, and in that time Chapman had moved on to a quiet law-abiding life among New York's upper middle class.
