A driver in jail and power lost at Denver International Airport this morning.

The driver hit a power transformer and knocked out power to some parts of the airport. The driver then fled the scene according to the Denver Police Department.

The collision happened around 7:20 a.m. outside the airport, officers did chase the vehicle and apprehended the suspect at East 144th Ave and Haysmount Road.

Frontier and United hangars did lose power but were able to operate on backup generators until crews finished up restoring service.
The suspect has not been identified, and no motive on why they hit the transformer has been released. There were also no major disruptions for travelers.
