Longmont's old Times-Call building is getting new life in 2016 with a cidery and distillery.

Both St. Vrain Cidery and Abbot & Wallace distillery will share the space at 350 Terry Street in downtown Longmont, which used to house the Times-Call, the Daily Camera reports.

St. Vrain will open in 2,300 square feet of space with a patio around Memorial Day, and Abbot & Wallace will open in August of this year with their first product cleverly named "Longtucky Shine."

"We can re-brand it into something that's a positive thing," co-owner John Young told the Daily Camera. "It's a chance for us to celebrate a community [that's] really becoming its own and a thriving city at this point."

We sense some shade from the term "Longtucky," and we're right - it's not supposed to be a nice name. Apparently "Longtucky" is a nickname Longmont has earned over the years, intended as a jab to the Longmont community, says the Times-Call.

Funny for Longmont's haters, Abbot & Wallace owners Young and Howard Wallace have trademarked the name.

"Some of the best liquor in the world comes out of Kentucky, and soon it will from Longmont, too," said Young.

St. Vrain owners Dean and Cindy Landi plan to involve the community as much as possible while keeping the spirit of the town's history alive.

"Any opportunity to collaborate and grow the community, we'll take," Cindi Landi told the Daily Camera. "Longmont is on such a growth spurt, it's nice that we're in a position to be part of that."
