Mountain LionEmergency officials got a brush with nature this afternoon when a mountain lion was spotted near the Fort Collins Police station.

I've been following the goings-on on Twitter, it all started with this Tweet from Robert Allen (A reporter for the Coloradoan).

#scanner: Mountain lion sighted across from Fort Collins Police station. They're notifying residents to stay inside. 2221 Timberline

From the string of tweets I gathered that the mountain lion was up in a tree near a residential garage. Police had pulled people back and told people nearby to stay in their homes. They shot the lion with tranquilizer and it took of running southwest of the tree it was in with police and firefighters giving chase.

I'll update this with any new details I can find, and I'm sure Robert Allen will have a nice write up about the incident in the Coloradoan.

Let's just hope they can catch up to the lion and get it back to someplace safe before it  hurts anyone, or gets hurt. You know, a happy ending just like the mountain lion caught in Lyons a few months back got.

***UPDATE*** 6:30PM

Mr. Allen just tweeted the good news that the tranquilized mountain lion is now in custody and no one has been hurt. Hooray!

Now, if you ever encounter a mountain lion, you might want to read up on these safety tips so you know what you should and shouldn't do.
