Women make up a very small part of the world's beer market (17% in Britain, 25%  here in the states). Some say women just don't like beer, others say that 40 years of very male-targeted advertising is to blame. (Can you think of a beer commercial that doesn't have bikini-clad women, or guys trying to get away from their crazy girlfriends for a drink with the guys?)

Molson Coors is apparently trying to change all that with their new line of beer aimed at women. Say hello to 'Animée,' beer made for women.I'm not sure how well this is going to go over, it seems like taking gender stereotypes and marketing a drink at them might be a bad idea.

Animée is Pink.  It comes in a rose- colored bottle, it has a "pretty" label with soft colors, and comes in flavours not quite synonymous with beer; clear filtered, crisp rosé, and zesty lemon. (One is an IPA, one a wheat beer and the third an ale.)

I know plenty of beer-drinking women that would be appalled at the idea of a pink lemon-zest beer marketed to their double-X chromosomes. But I also know plenty that would love it. (Imagine being able to order a "girly" drink that didn't have more sugar than most desserts.)

What do you think? Would you drink a beer 'made for women'?
