The St. Louis Rams have cut Michael Sam, The first openly gay player drafted by an NFL team. Sam attended Missouri where he was the SEC co-defensive player of the year last season. After his college season and before the NFL draft, Sam announced to the world something his teammates had already know... that he was gay. This announcement created a swell of attention in the media leading up to the NFL draft. Before his announcement, Sam was projected as a mid-round pick due to some questions about hie size and abilities.  On Draft day, Sam fell to the 7th and final round being picked by the St. Louis Rams.  The Rams from the beginning stated that they looked at Same as a football player first and that his ability to make the team will be determined by his talents. As controversy swelled around the country in and out of football on how the first openly gay player would be treated, today the Rams treated him like any other player that was on the bubble and cut him.
