Over the weekend we were distressed to learn that Marvel's Netflix 'Daredevil' series had suffered a setback in losing Drew Goddard as its showrunner, but atop Goddard's replacement with 'Spartacus' showrunner Stephen S. DeKnight, we may at last have some good news. Is 'Boardwalk Empire' star Charlie Cox officially ready to put his horns to work as Matt Murdock for Netflix's 'Daredevil' TV series? Let's find out!

The rumor comes to us via Latino Review, though for as much as we've been burned by TV casting rumors of late, this one seems reasonably legitimate. We'd imagine that the overdue casting announcement was pushed back by Marvel's need to work though Goddard's availability, though with production beginning this summer in New York, our Matt Murdock was bound to emerge sometime soon.

Apart from taking place in the same cinematic universe as 'The Avengers' or 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,' we know that each Marvel Netflix series will shoot 13 episodes, culminating in an eight-episode team-up with ‘The Defenders’ miniseries and bringing the total to 60 episodes (to start). Goddard will remain a consultant to new 'Daredevil' showrunner DeKnight, while Melissa Rosenberg remains attached to ‘Jessica Jones,’ leaving ‘Iron Fist’ and ‘Luke Cage’ without any major names confirmed, for the moment.

Charlie Cox is certainly a name with less baggage than Ben Affleck ever had, and remained a fan-favorite through 'Boardwalk Empire' and 'Stardust,' but what say you? At least until the rumor is confirmed, would you be happy with Cox as our new 'Daredevil?' Who did you have in mind for Matt Murdock?

UPDATE 7:14 P.M.: The Hollywood Reporter confirms it, Cox is the new Daredevil.
