The Loveland Police Department has named an interim Police Chief while a national search to replace retiring Chief Luke Hecker gets under way. Captain Tim Brown, a 22-year veteran of the Loveland Police Department, will assume the duties on January 1st.

Chief Hecker will remain in place through his Dec. 31 retirement.

Brown has headed LPD’s Operations Division since mid-August. He arrived in Loveland in 1993 after serving with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office in Belvidere, Ill. He was promoted to Lieutenant at LPD in 2003, and assumed the rank of Captain in February 2014.

The City of Loveland has enlisted the services of a national recruiting firm specializing in top law enforcement positions to conduct a search for Hecker’s replacement.
