After the passing of 2 special search and rescue dogs this year, Larimer County Search and Rescue is welcoming a new addition to their team.

LCSAR announced Sunday on Facebook that this little sweetheart, Max, was donated to one of their handlers by Scott Worthing of Caliber Canines. According to the Facebook post, Worthing has bred quality German Shepherds for many years.

Search and rescue dogs with LCSAR are trained to "scent discriminate," meaning they will ignore the scent of everyone except for the missing person. The dogs are also trained to search bodies of water and avalanche debris for victims, search for evidence, and also find trapped victims in disaster situations.
