Kevin Clash, the actor who provides the voice for the popular 'Sesame Street' character Elmo, is taking a break from the show after allegations surfaced that he once had an inappropriate relationship with an underage teenager. (And no, we don't mean the 28 years he's spent with his hand up the backside of an underage puppet.)

Recently, a young man Clash was involved with -- who's now 23 -- sought the legal counsel of Andreozzi and Associates, a firm best known for representing one of Penn State monster Jerry Sandusky’s victims. The man claims Clash engaged in a sexual relationship with him when he was just 16 years old.

Clash, 52, doesn’t deny having a relationship with his accuser, but he does contend that the young man was already an adult at the time, telling TMZ, “[We were] two consenting adults and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to make it into something it was not.”

Sesame Workshop officials conducted a "thorough investigation" and "determined the allegation of underage sex was unsubstantiated," so it's standing by Clash, but has granted him a leave of absence to deal with the legal and PR battle. The company also believes an email the accuser later produced to prove his claims is fraudulent since it wasn't submitted early on.

The accuser’s attorneys believe Sesame Workshop is engaged in some sort of cover up and placing “a greater value on a puppet than the well being of a young man.”

This whole mess has been brought to you by the letters “uh-O.”
