JCPenney is a staple in the shopping scene of many cities across the country.  But it won't be for much longer.

According to USA Today, the popular retailer will be closing 33 of its store across the country, costing 2,000 people their jobs.

CEO Myron E. Ullman said in the release: "While it's always difficult to make a business decision that impacts our valued customers and associates, this important step addresses a strategic priority to improve the profitability of our stores and position JCPenney for future success."

And with all the urban renewal going on in midtown Fort Collins, you'd think our JCPenney store would be on the shopping block, right?

Turns out, no, the Fort Collins store is not one of the 33 slated to close by May.

Only one Colorado store is on the list: the Chapel Hills Mall location in Colorado Springs.

So if you love JCPenney, show the Fort Collins store some of that love and keep it open!
